The DIY Conference
The Irish Community Living Unconferences were a series of 1 day events which offered people interested in the areas of Community Living, Co-operative Housing and Eco Villages an opportunity to meet, knowledge share, problem solve and create support networks. This was achieved through participant generated discussions, communal feasting (potluck meal), and knowledge harvesting.
What is an Unconference? The idea behind an unconference is that,
instead of 80 people listening to one person, you have many different discussions going on simultaneously, which are generated by the participants of the conference rather than the organizers. |
How does it work?Instead of having a pre-filled schedule of talks, the schedule is co-created by the participants with the help of facilitators. Each session is based on a question, which participants explore together.
|
What if I'm not an expert? The whole idea behind the ICLU is to bring together both experts in different fields and ‘regular’ people who just want to be the change and live a sustainable and/or communal lifestyle.
